St. Joes takes over the No. 1 spot on the ladder this week after its 3-game victory over Don Bosco last week (Bosco’s only loss of the season). Bosco drops to No. 2 and gets a rematch this week.

With two weeks to go before the playoffs, teams will be jockeying for their final positions.

Men’s 6’s Update: Warren SixPak Makes A Statement!

SixPak nets Championships in Bronze and Gold. The Silver crown goes to The Q.

The Warren SixPak Volleyball Club got a little feather in their cap October 28th. The 17’s, behind MVP Austin Both, with help from Brian Colabella and Parker Koladka beat WML in the Semi’s and then Jambalaya in the Finals 25-22 and 25-16.
The Silver Championship was a battle between The Degenerates and The Q. With Q getting the edge, 25-18,18-25, and 15-9. MVP Sunny Kumar led the charge with some significant help from Mihai Moldovan, Razvan Bot and Jim Dvorsky.
In the Gold Finals #1 ranked Rage was upset by the SixPak 18’s squad in a three setter, 22-25, 25-20, 17-15. MVP Andy Balint led all in assists. Mark Kochan (12 kills, 2 blocks), Jessie Van Dunk (7 kills, 1 block), Kevin Froehlich (4 kills, 1 ace), Tomek Makowiecki (3 blocks, including the game-winning point in Game 2), and Mike Kvidahl (17 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces) completed a very balanced attack. Balint also had 3 kills and a block.

Rage had gone through the entire season with only one loss, suffered on the opening night.

In the final, Taras Borysyuk had 10 kills and 2 aces, Jared Houston contributed 6 kills, 3 blocks and an ace, John Infante had 4 kills, Chris Schuler had 4 kills and 4 blocks, Dan Latanzi had 4 kills (including the game-winner in the first game), a block and an ace, and setter Sean Mackey had a kill and a block. Libero Maribel Viray contributed awesome passing and some key digs.

Thursday Co-Ed 4’s Update: Season dominated by Animaniacs

Now they have one thing left to do. Win the Championship. In a season accentuated by strong defense solid setting and a multifaceted attack, Eric, Bria, Tommy and Jamie have been unbeatable. Literally! 12-0. Now all they have left is to punctuate their perfect season by beating the group they beaten so often this year. Animaniacs face Touch it! in one Gold Semi and it’s UglyBall vs. ButtHeads in the other. The Gold Action starts at 9:00.
In the Silver Division #’s 1 and 2 get a bye in the first round. They (Knuckle Up and CoolHwip) will face off in the semi’s against the Quarter Final winners of Team Ultra VS. Stu’s Cru and AARP VS. Baltimore Badgers. Silver action begins at 7:00.
The Bronze Battle will pit #1 Spike U. VS. #4 Jambalaya and #2 BUCA VS. #3 Boo-Yao. All Bronze matches start at 7:00.

Men’s 6’s Update: Playoffs Are Set, Bring Your Game

A wonderful prelude to the playoffs took place on Tuesday with many knock down, drag out, 3 set, extra time matches. So the Playoffs are set now for Tuesday (10/28) its #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3 In all three divisions with the winners facing off in the Finals.
The Silver and Bronze Division will start at 7:30. The Gold will start at 9:00. Bring your game! Lets have some fun!

Thursday Co-Ed Quads Update: UglyBall Jumps to Gold

In The final week for moving, UglyBall made the most of the opportunity with a jump to the Gold division by virtue of straight set wins over Ultra and Touch it! Ultra feels the brunt of this jump by sliding to the Silver Bracket. The Divisions are set now with no opportunity to move. This week features play off previews all over the board. Playoffs are set for October 30th (two weeks). This week provides a sneak peek at what you will have to face. Gold Division:The (undefeated) Animaniacs, UglyBall, Touch it and ButtHeads. Silver Division: Team Ultra, Baltimore Badgers, CoolHwip, Knuckle Up, AARP, and Stu’s Cru. Bronze Division: Spike U., Boo-Yao, BUCA, and Jambalaya.

Don Bosco has moved into the No. 1 spot in the league, with St. Peters second and St. Josephs third.

Kaboom moved to Gold with a tough 3 set victory over UglyBall. Joining top ranked Rage, #2 Freds ReTreads and #3 SixPak 18’s in the Gold bracket. UglyBall leads the Silver Bracket and will have to fight off All The Kings Men, The Q and Generic Degenerics for the Silver title. In the Bronze division Lakeland takes the role of favorite and will try to fend off Jambalaya, SixPak 17’s and White Meadow Lake for the Bronze Championship. This coming Tuesday (10/21) will feature Playoff previews for each bracket. Championship shirts and a special MVP award for each division will be presented to the winners on Championship Night (Tuesday 10/28)–Click here for updated rankings and schedule.

Thursday Co-Ed Quad Update: CoolHwip and Spike U. Climb the Ladder

CoolHwip and Spike U. jumped up 2 spaces each after Thursday nights competition was over. Stu’s Cru and BUCA came back to earth and dropped a couple of rungs by the time the night was done. Animaniacs held on to first with a riveting 3 set match win over Touch it! Smackey.
2 more weeks then playoffs. Next week will be the last opportunity for you to move up the Ladder as the seasons last week will be a playoff preview. The Gold, Silver and Bronze Brackets will be finalized next week.
Baltimore Badgers will have an opportunity to crack Gold. Team Ultra and Touch it will have to secure their Gold Standing By holding off Uglyball. Ultra and the Badgers can swoop in and steal first with an upset over the Animaniacs.

St. Peters No. 1, high school league schedule

St. Peters which started as the No. 5 team in the 24-team high school league ladder, moved up to No. 1 in its first match last Sunday by beating the original No. 1 team, East Brunswick, 26-24, 25-23. The Marauders then kept the top seed heading in to week 2 of the schedule with a 25-23, 25-19 victory over No. 7 Old Bridge.

Don Bosco also registered two victories, beating Warren 25-21, 25-15, and East Brunswick, 25-22, 25-21, to move up from the fourth position to No. 2. Vernon made a two-spot move as well, with victories over Old Bridge and CBA.

Another team making a four-spot move upward was St. Josephs 2,which advanced from No. 14 to No. 10 with two wins.

This week features several rematches (as teams move up and down the ladder, rematches are always a possibility. Under the ladder system, the ultimate goal is to have all the teams in the proper division when the playoffs take place).

THE SCHEDULE
